We lived in the DC metro area of Northern Virginia for 2 years and had a blast exploring a new area and of course the city! One of the best parts about DC is that many of the museums are FREE. All of the Smithsonian museums are no charge and are fantastic. One of the newest museums is the Newseum. You do have to pay to enter, but it is worth it!
The museum is focused on famous things depicted in the media. They have multiple items from 9/11, the tear down of the Berlin Wall, world-changing photography, and so much more. When we visited there was a whole exhibit on the movie Anchorman and a walkway dedicated to presidents and their dogs. A lot of the exhibits are interactive and they let you TOUCH things, which I loved because that is taboo in most museums. If you’re down in the DC area set aside a few hours for the Newseum!
