I look forward to Halloween season all year. The costumes are chosen in July, the decorations are set up on Labor Day, and horror movie binge watching begins October 1. I have a difficult time letting go of the Halloween magic on November 1. So here is a belated list of some awesome Halloween-type reviews:
19 Crimes Wine – 19 different wines that correspond with the 19 crimes that used to get you exiled to Australia. I tried the Cabernet Sauvignon over the weekend and really enjoyed it. I’m new to the red wine scene, but the label is awesome and I can’t wait to use the empty wine bottle as a prop during Halloween next year.
Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension – The first movie my husband and I saw together in theaters was the first Paranormal Activity. Since then we have a tradition of seeing all the sequels in the theater. This year’s Paranormal was definitely better than the last two. There were more unpredictable scares and we appreciated the humor. We went to the Starplex Theater in Southington and were delighted to find out that 1. They now have the fancy red recliner seats and 2. Matinees are still only $5 (they also do $5 Tuesdays). *Side note: We also red boxed the new Poltergeist. NOT good.
The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty – Most people have seen the movie, but have you read the book? It’s a literary classic! A good vs. evil psychological thriller at its finest. I couldn’t put it down.
Real Simple Magazine – I love Real Simple because it has a little bit of everything: recipes, advice, decor suggestions, comical anecdotes, and more. I’m still reading the October issue in yet another attempt to prolong the Halloween season.
