Obsessively re-decorating my bar cart on a monthly basis has become one of my new hobbies. Typically, I shuffle decor pieces around from other rooms to create a new bar cart vibe. From time to time I’ll use new items that I’ve purchased or include fresh flowers, plants, or succulents depending on the season. This month I used metallics as the main accent pieces on the bar cart. After having our living room filled to the brim with Christmas everything for a over a month I wanted something that looked fresh, clean, and completely uncluttered.
Top of Cart
The metallic pieces I chose for this bar cart styling come in varying tones and heights. The ferris wheel is actually supposed to be a cupcake holder, but I love the look of it just as a decor piece and think it adds a touch of whimsy to the display. The music note page in the brass frame also adds height to the back and draws the eye. I use the silver vase/bottle on the right constantly and during every season. I got it at Home Goods years ago and it’s one of my favorite pieces. Additionally, I have a ton of candles in my house, but I went with this one because it has the silver top and matches the silver Kate Spade coasters in front of it. Even the champagne glasses have little metallic emblems and the bottle of champagne as metallic in the label. It helps that my bar cart has a mirror top because it really helps to reflect the light from the metallic pieces and brightens the space.
Bottom of Cart
For the bottom of the bar cart I used less metallic, but still incorporated it where I could. For example, most of the wine tops are metallic, as is the label on the bottle of whiskey in the front. The book holding the bourbon glasses also has a gold spine. There is just something about using gold and silver to accent a space that make it look luxe and clean. I find it helpful to use different variations of metallic, not only in color, but also in shape and substance. For example, having the solid coasters contrast with the wire-esque design of the ferris wheel.
