As previously explained, I am a pear shape and have learned over the years how to best attempt to find and wear clothes that look semi-decent on me. I struggle hardcore with finding yoga pants that fit me properly. I used to buy a couple pairs of generic black cotton yoga pants/capris at the Gap outlet once a year, but even they have primarily switched to using that stretchier, nylon-based ‘under armour’ type fabric that is all the rage. The main issue is that if I buy a size big enough to fit my bottom half the waist is invariably too big AND still feels too tight in the leg. So, I decided to give Fabletics a shot because I was getting a lot of emails from them and they wore me down. Plus, I love Kate Hudson and their patterned yoga pants are adorbs.
I bought a pair of mid-calf yoga pants and a thin, long-sleeve hooded shirt on sale for $15, plus $5 shipping, so it was a bargain! I was also notified that I am now part of their VIP club…along with everyone else on earth. Anyway, I am a thick size 8 and know that when the size guide claims that M = 8, it is never going to fit me. This is also why I almost never by pants online. So I sized up and got a L = 10 in the pants and a medium in the shirt. Shirts always fit, never an issue there.
I was super excited when the package arrived and immediately ripped it open and threw on the outfit. The pants are a thicker material, which I like because there’s less likelihood it will be see-through when I’m doing squats (*cough* code for bending over to see if there’s any leftover pie in the fridge *cough*), and the pattern is great. Even in sizing up the legs are a little tight, which causes them to kind of pull down a bit despite my persistent yanking. I’m hoping they will stretch out a little with use. The waist is too big on me per usual, which could also be contributing to them not staying up where they belong. I’m going to keep them and hope they stretch a little in the leg. I’m used to the waist not fitting in most things I own so I can deal. Does anyone get yoga pants tailored…is that a thing? Shirt fits just fine and it’s light and comfy. Good for early fall nights.
The promos for Fabletics consistently show women of all shapes and sizes happily traipsing around in their yoga pants, but when is someone going to make a pair of yoga pants that has a narrow enough waist for the pear shapes of the world??
